HoS-house-community

The HoS offers a colorful variety of people in difficult situations, a roof over their head. These includes: the socially disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, foreign fellow citizens and homeless people, the sick and the marginalized. They are supported by a group of employees. They want to live solidarity and concrete dedicate a portion of their time to the benefit of those, who are not doing so well. So the HoS is a form of family, which carries the house residents, and the openness, tolerance, respect and hospitality by trying something new every day.

The platform HoS

The platform HoS is a young initiative. We want, as the name suggests, be a platform, a meeting place for political education in the broadest sense, for discussion, awareness, and not least for entertainment. We are also making own initiatives in the areas of cultural, environmental and social projects and support of the OEW.

OEW – Organization for a caring world

The OEW is the largest development organization in South Tyrol and umbrella organization of 45 member groups, clubs and world shops. Focus of the association’s work is child-and adult education in the areas of development cooperation, globalization, peace education and immigration issues. In addition to an extensive library, numerous school projects and provides advice to others OEW meeting several months traveling, so-called solidarity visits to countries in the South.

“badante” – meeting

Every Wednesday afternoon, have “badante” the opportunity to meet in the oasis of HoS, to spend their time together, to talk to each other, exchange ideas and to discuss problems.

Stoffart

Since August 2010 there is in the HoS the sewing project “Stoffart”, which produces in cooperation with domestic and foreign women new products from used textiles. The project is aimed primarily at women, from abroad, which make small alterations, among other things, cut trousers and skirts or customize bags, etc. sew. It is important to observe how arising out of used clothing and new clothing materials and other nice products.

Helfen ohne Grenzen – Help without borders

The goal is to help those people who find themselves unwittingly in trouble and can not manage without help, to get rid of it. Also, one tries to reduce prejudice and cross geographical boundaries. Thanks to the solidarity of many people and the strong support of members to get help from extended without limits incredibly fast and now supported a project successfully for thousands of refugees from Burma who are staying in Thailand or remain in Burma’s jungle hideouts. The association consists of a nine-member board, numerous volunteers, a full-time employee and the helpers of the field office in Mae Sot.
